PAGE PARK

BOWLS CLUB

Our club is a recent merger of two previously-established clubs * in Page Park, Page Park BC and Page Ladies BC, both having a long history and significant attainments.  The result is a large mixed club with the capacity to provide bowling opportunities for bowlers at all levels of experience.  The facilities are owned by South Gloucestershire Council and leased to the club during the playing season, the Council also being responsible for green maintenance and other aspects of the buildings and general amenities.

The Men’s Section, apart from a very full friendly fixture list on Wednesdays and Saturdays (both home and away games in each case), have four teams in total in the Bristol North East League and the Bristol & District League on Thursdays.  They also participate successfully in the City & County of Bristol and in Gloucestershire County competitions.  A rink from the original Page Park club reached the National Rinks Final at Worthing in 1992.  In general, an historic record of these men’s honours can be seen here.

In the Ladies’ Section, a full friendly fixture list on Tuesdays and Thursdays exists throughout the season, while two teams play weekly in the Bristol Ladies League Divisions 1 and 3.  As recently as 2015, the Ladies ‘A’ Team won the Division 1 title.  A listing of county and national honours for the ladies can be seen here, this including two club members reaching the National Senior Pairs final at Royal Leamington Spa in 2016.

An increasing demand from other local clubs for mixed bowls fixtures, is largely satisfied by a popular series of games arranged for Sundays.  Along with all the various contests reported, there will be many one-off, celebration and charity  games.

The amazing thing about all of this is that the basic club subscription fees are fantastic value, currently standing at £65 per season.  Match fees or competition fees are additionally paid for each game played or each competition entered.

*  The original Page Park BC was established in 1948 and the Page Ladies BC soon afterwards, in 1951.

The only exception is Charity/Fundraising Games.
