Welcome to our club

Page Park BC is a large mixed bowling club in the North-east Bristol suburb of Staple Hill.  The green and clubhouse is located in Page Park, a superb Victorian park centrally positioned in Staple Hill.  A pleasant and well-used social facility, valued by the whole community, and which quite recently obtained major grant funding for renovation and also the provision of a new cafe built adjacent to our club. *

Coaching is provided for anyone thinking of trying out the sport of bowls, with later opportunities for joining our club if so desired.   For established bowlers of both genders, we run no less than six league teams (four men’s and two ladies’), competing weekly in various Bristol area leagues, plus organising a plethora of inter-club friendly games against other clubs from all over Bristol and South Gloucestershire.

There is absolutely no shortage of chances to play regular bowls -  men’s friendlies on Wednesdays and Saturdays, women’s on Tuesdays and Thursdays and mixed games on Sundays particularly feature.  Plus many club competitions too, throughout the season, which runs from mid-April to late-September.

PAGE PARK BC BOWLS COACHING COURSE – APRIL/MAY 2023

We will be operating another course for those wishing to take up the sport of bowls in 2023.  The course of 6 weeks tuition by Bowls England qualified Coaches seeks to enable anyone to develop so that they are able to take part in a bowls match. This does of course depend upon the commitment and ability to learn of the individual student. Last year we trained 30 persons 22 of whom decided to take up the sport and join a club.

This is a course for persons of any age (over 12 years). It begins on Saturday, 22nd April and continues for the following 6 weeks, with an additional seventh week should the students request this to help with a specific aspect. Each session is for 2 hours from 10.00 to 12 noon.

Page Park Bowls Club will provide all the items of equipment required, but students should bring their own footwear, which MUST BE FLAT  SOLED - NO HEELS OR RIBBED SOLES.

There is a registration fee of £5.00 and each session a charge of £5.00 is made. Written material about the rules and the etiquette of playing bowls will be provided.

We are happy to welcome trainees whom may prefer to subsequently apply to join another local club for practical reasons, where they will be happily accepted if holding a course completion certificate.

2023 trainees with their certificates                                 To register your interest, please contact our Lead Coach
